“Palazzo Dario”
Digital Drawing, Gicle'e Print on Hahnemuhle paper. 385x29cm
Limited edition.©P.Bortoli 2021

This work was inspired by Claude Monet painting of Palazzo Dario. I have admired the magnificent simplicity of this building since I was a child. I was aiming for simplicity of composition and colour. The palace was built in the Venetian Gothic style and was renovated in Renaissance style. It was remodelled after 1486 by a follower of Pietro Lombardo (sculptor and architect) for the patrician Giovanni Dario, Secretary to the Venetian Senate, diplomat, and merchant.
